Genuine Ruby
Ruby is celebrated in the Bible and ancient Sanskrit writings as the most precious of all gemstones. To the Hindus, ruby burned with an inextinguishable internal fire. A member of the corundum mineral family, ruby and its sister sapphire are the hardest gems after diamond, ranking 9 on the Moh’s scale. The name ruby is derived from the Latin word for red, rubrum, and its color varies from purplish and bluish red to orangey red. Ruby is found throughout Southeast Asia, with the lion’s share of gems coming from Burma and Thailand. Other mining areas are found in Sri Lanka and Africa.
